Pedaço por pedacinho…

Offerings can be transactional, but in truth it is about relationship. We can “wine and dine” a spirit to entice them to our favor and grant a request- but we can also form a relationship based in the many meals shared, in the communion of our conversations and camaraderie.

The first approach is easy, but lonely. The second is far more demanding, but, in truth, what good relationships do not demand presence, time, and sacrifice?

Pedaço por pedacinho…

So too is the relationship with our mentors. Time and presence build strong relationships. Demand and showing up only when something is about you reveals the individual’s motives. Time and presence can remedy that, more offerings cannot, whether with elders or with spirits.

Those who have built the relationships are invited to the feast. Those who demand without giving in return will eventually wear out their welcome.

Presence invites presence, pedaço por pedacinho…
